Imago

Wingspan 11–15 mm. Due to the similarity with Coleophora alcyonipennella and imagines are not separable with certainty using external features so identification should be by dissection.
Antennae black with white tips, thickened at the base by shiny black scales. Head and middle body shiny purplish brown. Labial palps gray. Front wings shiny brass at the tip shiny copper. Hind wings grey.

Bionomics

The caterpillars apparently live on flowers and fruit heads from within a cryptic case.
The adults fly at night and come to light.
