Distribution


Imago

Wingspan 13–18 mm. The taxon was previously mixed with Pammene fasciana, but differs ecologically and morphologically and now P. herrichiana has been recognized as a separate species.
Species can best be identified on the basis of the genitals.

Bionomics

The larva feeds on the seeds that later dry and fall off in autumn. Pupating in a cocoon in crevices at the lower part of tree trunks, under bark, or on the ground.
The adults come infrequently to light, because they usually fly high in the canopy.
