A very rare and local species in Belgium, not seen for a long time.
Native
Wingspan 12–14 mm. A pale whitish grey heavily suffused pink moth, especially towards the apex. It is marked with a reddish brown. There is a narrow costal edge basally, a very oblique, narrow irregular central fascia that is slightly broader at the dorsum and fades out before reaching the costa. There is shading at the termen especially at the apex. The cilia are less pink. They are not barred which distinguishes it from an otherwise similar Cochylis roseana
The larva lives in the flowers and the fruits of the food plant. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground or inside the seed head and overwinter.
The adults come to light.
The adults fly in two generations a year from May towards June and from July till August.
The larva feeds on Linaria and Plantago lanceolata.
It occurs in open habitats, pastures, grasslands.
