A not so common but widespread species in Belgium. Many errors happen with identification with fresh Scoparia ambigualis, Scoparia basistrigalis and Scoparia subfusca.

Bionomics

The larva lives in a slight web. The adults are active at dusk.

Flight periods

The adults have been observed from early May till early August, but mainly during June.

Host plant (species):
Senecio jacobaea and Plantago lanceolata
Substrates:
Dead leaves and Low-growing plants

The larva feeds on decaying vegetable matter of various low-growing plants. It probably lives also on the roots of Senecio jacobaea and other plants as Plantago lancealata.
