A very rare and local autumn species in the southern part of Belgium.
Native
Wingspan 10–12 mm. A dark moth which has a light brown face and palps and a clear white triangular dorsal blotch. The wings are marked with irregular plumbeous fasciae. The black streaked ocellus is also plumbeous edged. Costal strigulae are indistinct.
An almost white larve with a light brown head, neck shield little different from the body color, sometimes lined with black at the back, anal valve not distinguished.
The larva lives in the spun flowers on the host plant.
The moths are active during the day, especially on sunny days and later come infrequently to light.
Adults can be seen from mid-August onwards, but mostly during September.
The larva lives on Prunus spinosa, Crataegus and Cydonia oblonga.
It inhabits woodland margins, hedgerows and scrubland.
