Distribution


Imago

Wingspan 15–17 mm. Similar to Notocelia rosaecolana and Notocelia roborana. It has 3 broad and 4 narrow costal strigulae between apical spot and distal end of costal fold which intersects the costa at one half.
The forewing is is somewhat darker in general coloration with a strong shade of grey, and it has distinctive tawny markings towards the outer part of the forewing.

Genitalia


Caterpillar

The caterpillar is reddish brown with a black head, the neck shield and anal valve are dark brown, the latter sometimes lighter.

Bionomics

The larvae live among spun leaves, often in terminal shoots. They pupate in the larval habitation.
The adults come to light.

Flight periods

The adults have been observed from mid-May till August with a peak during June.

The larva lives mainly on Crataegus and less on Pyrus communis, rarely on Prunus spinosa.
