Wingspan 16–20 mm. One of three very similar species, also including Notocelia trimaculana and Notocelia roborana.
The basal area of the wing is less dark than in Notocelia roborana and its outer edge less straight and less sharply defined. Also numerous narrower costal strigulae between apical spot and basal patch.

Genitalia


Bionomics

Hibernates as an egg. The larvae live among spun leaves. Pupation among the leaves or in the litter.
The adults are active at dusk and later come to light.
