Imago

Wingspan 10–15 mm. Forewing dark chestnut brown, becoming paler costally with rusty color in distal third costally and partially towards termen below apex. Speculum white-grey and silvery-edged with costal strigulae ill-defined.
Cilia whitish, brown at the apex with some rust mixed terminally. Hindwing brownish grey.

Caterpillar

Larvae can be found from June to November and according to older literature should be amber-yellow-colored with a pale brown head and neck shield, the latter with a black dot on each side.

The larva lives between spun leaves on the host plant.

Flight periods

The adults are on the wing from late April towards mid-September in two generations a year.
