1 adult at Edegem, AN, 22.vii.2017, leg. L. Janssen, det. T. Muus. A North American species, as far as known (2017) this is the first and thus far only record in Europe.
A second specimen was trapped at Lier (AN) on 27.vi.2024, leg. W. Veraghtert.

Caterpillar

They have a dark brown body and a dark reddish-brown head with long hairs. The caterpillars are about 20 mm long when full grown.

The Belgian specimens were observed in June and July.


Observed on

It has been found feeding on withered, dried and fallen leaves and on roofs made of palm thatch.
