Zimmermannia atrifrontella (Stainton, 1851) Species

Last modified: Jan. 18, 2024, 1:23 p.m.

Oak-bark mining (this species and Zimmermannia longicaudella) species are known from Belgium for quite some time, but the two species involved mine in the bark of Oak (Quercus), are indistinguishable from each other in this stage.
In 2020 in VB, an imago was trapped of this species and another two were checked for genitals in NA and LX.
Status is insufficiently known but probably underrecorded in Belgium.
