A very rare and local species in Belgium, not seen for a very long time.
Native
Wingspan 11–17 mm.
Body orange, head, prothoracic and anal plates brown, pinacula concolorous, on the thorax sometimes brown.
The larvae bore in the pods, hibernation and pupation in a cocoon among the litter.
The adults are active in the sunshine.
The adults are on the wing from April onwards till early June.
The caterpillars live on Lathyrus pratensis, Lathyrus tuberosus, Lathyrus linifolius, Lathyrus japonicus and Vicia sp.
It inhabits a variety of habitats were the food plant occur.
