A rare and widespread species throughout Belgium.

The caterpillar is reddish with a light brown head, the neck shield is less pronounced and lighter than the body color, the anal valve is light brown.
The larva lives in the berries of the food plant. Two or three berries are spun together The larva then leaves the spinning and spends the winter in a cocoon before pupating. Pupation in a cocoon under loose bark, in rotten wood, or amongst leaf litter.
The adults are active in sunshine and sometimes come to light.
The adults fly usually from mid-May towards late August.
It inhabits wooded areas, woodland edges, scrubland, gardens and hedgerows.
