A very rare and local species in Belgium, not seen for a very long time. Can be confused with Glyptoteles leucacrinella.
Native
Laid on bark wounds and fruit.
Final instars reach 10-12 mm in length. Body is grey with a yellow to pale brown head and a dark brown prothoracic plate.
The adults can be seen from April towards October.
The larvae feed inside a variety of fruit, boring into the pulp, and feed on cambium under the bark of a number of species of tree like Cydonia oblonga, Juglans regia, Malus pumila, Olea europaea, Prunus armeniaca, Prunus avium, Prunus domestica, Prunus persica, Punica granatum, Pyrus, Salix alba, Salix purpurea and Vitis
