Bionomics

The larva lives in a flimsy whitish silken tube on the food plant. Pupation in the larval habitation.
The adults become active near evening and later come to light.

The adults usually fly from late May towards mid-September.

The larva lives on mosses like Syntrichia ruraliformis, Dicranum scoparium and Hypnum lacunosum. Very exceptional on Cerastium fontanum.

It inhabits xerothermal terrains like heaths, inland dunes and open sandy areas and rough ground also in open woods, parks and gardens.
