A rare but widespread species throughout Belgium.
Native
Wingspan 17–20 mm. Very similar to other species of Apotomis, especially Apotomis turbidana and Apotomis betuletana but identified by a more angulated median fascia, which is less indented on its outer edge, and black apex with prominent black spots/dashes centrally close to the termen. The cilia are dark grey.
The larva lives between spun leaves and pupates there. The adults are nocturnal and come to light.
The adults have been observed from May till late August with a peak during June.
It inhabits woodland, heaths, gardens, parks.
