A very rare and locally declining species in Belgium. Nowadays only known from observations along the coast.

This species is considered Critically Endangered according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.

Bionomics

The larva lives on various grasses.
Overwinters as a larva and pupates in an underground chamber.
The adults become active from dusk onwards and later come to light and sugar.

Flight periods

The adults fly in one generation a year from early July till late August.
