Bionomics

The larva makes out of much silk and frass a dark brown retreat in the branches, when the leaves around have withered the larva moves and makes a new retreat elsewhere, resulting in many vacated cells for one occupied. The larva hibernates, then pupates, in the latest retreat.
The moths come to light.

The moths are on the wing from June towards September but mainly in July/August.
