A local and fairly common species throughout Belgium, frequenting moorland and heathland.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
The species hibernates as a nearly fully grown larva among plant debris and pupates in a cocoon underground.
The adults fly in the daytime and come to light and sometimes also on sugar.
The adults fly from the beginning of June till early September in one generation a year.
