A rather common species throughout Belgium.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
Hibernates as pupa. The adults come to light.
The adults fly usually from mid-May till early July and again from late July till mid-September in two generations a year.
The larva lives mainly on Fagus, sometimes also on other deciduous trees or on Vaccinium.
