A fairly common species throughout Belgium.
Native
Three Belgian species Yponomeuta live on the host plant Euonymus.
Caterpillars of Yponomeuta cagnagella and Yponomeuta irorella are very difficult to distinguish.
In contrast to the caterpillars of Yponomeuta cagnagella which live socially in a web, Yponomeuta irorella caterpillars live individually in a web.
The caterpillars of the third species Yponomeuta plumbella are easy to distinguish from the other 2 species.
The larva lives on the food plant at first in a shoot, later on between spun leaves.
The adults come to light.
The adults fly onwards from early June to early September with a peak during July.
The larva lives on Euonymus europaeus.
