A very rare and local species in Belgium, rarely observed. Regularly confused with some forms of Pyrausta purpuralis.
Native
Confusion may occur with the very similar Pyrausta purpuralis, but is has a narrower forewing and paler yellow markings, and there are subtle differences in the underside wing pattern.
The adults are active during daytime.
The adults fly in April/May and again from late June to mid-August in two generations a year.
The larva lives on Nepeta, Mentha and Origanum.
It inhabits sandy soils and dunes.
