Native
Red body, segment limits greenish, head light brown with prothoracic plate darker, hind margin darkly stippled, pinacula pale.
The larvae feed on the berries, spinning them together where a single purple berry amongst the green ones is a good sign that a larva is present. They hibernate fully fed in a cocoon on the lower part of the tree where they later pupate.
The adults fly just before dusk and come later to light.
The adults fly from late May towards July.
It occurs on calcareous soils but also dry pastures, heathland and fens.
