A very rare and local species in Belgium, mainly known from the southern part and not often seen.
Native
Wingspan 11–14 mm.
Whitish body with gray spots, the head is lighter or darker brown, the nape is yellowish or whitish, dark-lined at the back, the anal valve is brown.
The larva feeds in dry Hymeropteran galls (Cynipidae: Cynips quercus and Cynips kollari and Biorhiza pallida) growing on the host plant. In autumn, the full-grown larva spins a cocoon in which it hibernates and the pupates next spring.<br<The adults come to light.
The adults have been seen from mid-May towards mid-September.
The larva lives on Quercus robur and Quercus sp.
It inhabits open woods, parkland etc...
