A rather common species throughout Belgium.

Wingspan: 24–27 mm.
Genital control is necessary in this species for positive identification, see O. strigilis Linneaus, 1758 and O. versicolor (Borhausen, 1792).
Hibernates as a larva and pupates in a flimsy cocoon among the roots of the food plant.
The adults come to light and sugar.
The adults fly in one generation a year from mid-May till end of July, with most observations in June.
The larva lives on different species Poaceae and Dactylis spp.
