A fairly common species throughout Belgium.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
Wingspan 20–25 mm.
In the male, the upperside hindwing has a doubly-folded lobe along the dorsum towards the base. This character is shared with Pterapherapteryx sexalata.
Hibernates as pupa in a cocoon underground.
They are active from dusk onwards and later come to light.
The adults fly from mid-April till early July.
The larva lives on several species of Populus, but especially on Populus tremula.
