Only known from 1 specimen in 1898, but recently rediscovered again in LG.
Native
Only known from 1 specimen at RBINS at Brussels (body and right wing) collected at Tambou (sic) on 1898-05-01 by de Crombrugghe, but was then incorrectly identified by him as Micropterix tunbergella (Fabricius, 1787).
Wingspan male 9–10 mm, female 10–12 mm. A rather big species with basal dull gold markings, median crossband touching both wing margins and not widening towards the costa, gold-shimmering scales present on apical and costal spots and at the wing margin.
Male genitalia are fairly characteristic, whereas female genitalia are hardly sclerotized, and the 8th segment can be of limited use to determine.
Adults are diurnal and usually active in the sunshine, where they visit flowers and feed on pollen.
Adults are on the wing from late April to early June, exceptionally later.
Hitherto unknown.
Inhabits mixed coniferous woodland and damp terrain, often in more acidic environments.
