First discovered in Belgium in 2022 in NA.
Native
Adult moths are indistinguishable from Batachedra pinicolella, examination of the genitals is necessary.
Wingspan 11–12 mm. A narrow-winged species with the forewings pale yellowish with brown speckling and a larger blackish brown spot towards the wing tip.
The larva feeds from a silken gallery covered with light brown frass and mines the needles of the host plant. Pupation takes place in a cocoon elsewhere on the tree.
Adults can be disturbed from the host plant and later come to light.
The adults are on the wing from June to August.
The larva lives on different species of Pinus, mostly on Pinus sylvestris. Possibly also on Larix decidua.
The species can be found in coniferous forests.
