New species to Belgium in 2022 in HA.
Native
Wingspan 24–28 mm.
The long and strong upstanding palps are a good characteristic compared to similar species. Reddish-brown forewings with silvery powdering and two black disc spots. A jagged, silvery band at 1/3 in front and one at 4/5 back on the wing.
The larva lives in the inflorescences on the host plant and feeds on the seeds and seed coats.
The adults are on the wing in June and July.
The larva has been found on Myricaria germanica, but the distribution of the species is larger than the area of this food plant, so there must be other host plants that are as yet unknown.
