Imago

Wingspan 13–16 mm. The forewings are black-brown with a bluish tint. There are a number of faint black spots in the center of the forewing which in some cases may be absent. The white yellowish spots present dorsally and costally in both males and females stand out clearly.

Bionomics

The larva creates a fine web of silk at the bottom of the plant cushion An opening in it represents the exit of the silk tube, which goes into the depths leads and ends in a very dense, small silk cocoon, where the caterpillar retreats when disturbed.


Flight periods

The adults are on the wing from mid-May till mid-September
