Bionomics

The larva lives on the seeds of the host plant. When fully grown it enters the stem by gnawing a small hole in it. Overwinters and pupates in a cocoon in the stem.
The adults fly in the sunshine and often can be seen on the white flowers of different Umbelliferae or the yellow flowers of Rancunculus spp.


Flight periods

The adults can be observed from mid-April to July, occasionally later, most commonly in the second half of May.
