The larvae feed in spinnings among the leaves in the top shoots on the host plant, and also sometimes in female catkins. Pupation occurs within the spinnings.
They come to light.
The adults fly from early June towards early September in one generation a year.
The larva feeds on different species of Salix.
It prefers wetland areas where the food plant occurs.
