Wingspan 14–20 mm. Very similar to Eudemis porphyrana, but distinguished by the presence of a strong dorsal portion of the subbasal fascia in E.profundana, this being obsolescent in Eudemis porphyrana. Often shows a characteristic orange tuft on the thorax.

Bionomics

The larva lives in a leaf rolled round the midrib. Pupation takes places inside the larval habitation or amongst leaf-litter on the ground.
They are active from evening onwards and later come to light.


Flight periods

The adults fly from early June towards late September.
