Bionomics

The caterpillar lives in the seed heads from September to early May.

Flight periods

The adults are on the wing from late April towards mid-August in two generations a year. The 2nd generation is regularly more abundant.


Observed on

Host plant (species):
Chondrilla juncea and Dipsacus sylvestris

The larva feeds on Dipsacus fullonum. Another plant mentioned in literature is Chondrilla juncea, but this is probably wrong.

It inhabits open areas, pastures, fallow lands, calcareous grasslands.
