A rather common species throughout Belgium.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
The larva pupates among plant debris.
After mating in autumn, the males all die and only the females hibernate.
They come to light and especially to sugar.
The adults fly from early September till well into November and sometimes when conditions are mild even till late December. Depending on mild weather, the females fly again from February, but usually from end of March till May.
The larva lives on various deciduous trees, like Quercus or Sorbus aucuparia.
