This southern species is a very rare migrant and has been seen in all provinces in Belgium.
This species is considered Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.

First Belgian specimen in 1987 at Sint-Jans-Molenbeek (BR).
The larva is active during the night.
Hibernates as a pupa underground.
The adults come to light.
The adults fly from May till September in two or three generations, but most observations are usually in summer.
The larva lives on Hypericum perforatum.
