This species is not seen in Belgium for quite some time, probably extinct.

Wingspan 15–17 mm.
The larvae live inside a long silken tunnel among lichens, when disturbed it retraits into a hollow Cladonia stem. Pupation on the ground.
The adults are on the wing from late July towards August.
It inhabits coniferous woods, open moorland and heaths.
