This species has not been seen in Belgium for a long time and is thought to be extinct.

Wingspan 9–13 mm.
Duration of the pupal phase about 4—5 weeks.
The young larva lives in a flower stalk on the host plant, it reacts to the infestation by forming a gall about the size of a rosehip. The larva lives and develop in the hollow stem gall. Later when the larva becomes mature it leaves the gall to pupatein the soil in a white web.
The adults become active around dusk and later come to light in small numbers.
The adults have been seen from late June towards August.
The larvae live mainly on Silene nutans. Also recorded on Silene otites and Silene vulgaris.
It prefers xerothermic places, dry meadows, roadsides etc...
