A fairly common species throughout Belgium, but probably underrecorded due to the similarity with other species of the genus.

The larva lives in a semi-transparent whitish silken tube.
The adults become active after sunset and later come to light.
The adults are on the wing from May towards late September.
The larva feeds on mosses like Homalothecium lutescens and Bryum sp.
It inhabits in suitable localities where the food plant occurs and is found in a wide range of habitats from dry sandy places to gardens, parks and woodland.
