Genitalia


Bionomics

It hibernates in an early stage in a slight spinning on the food plant. Pupation in the larval habitation.
The adults are active in early morning and late afternoon and later come to light.

Flight periods

The adults fly onwards from late May till August, with most numbers during July. When conditions are right, small numbers can be observed until late in October.

The larvae are most likely feeding on decayed or dry plant material. It has been mainly found on Ulex europaeus. Also recorded from twig galls on Abies grandis and from seedheads of thistles.
