A very rare and local species in Belgium, not seen for a very long time. Presumably extinct.
Native
Wingspan 12–18 mm. There are five strong white strigulae on the costa and a white moon-shaped dorsal spot, ocellus with strong black dashes.
Dirty whitish body with a brown head, prothoracic plate darker brown to blackish brown, anal plate brownish and pinacula hardly recognisable.
The larva lives in damaged areas or cancerous places on the trunks and strong branches that are richly covered with resin and it feeds on bast and bark.
The adults come to light.
The adults are on the wing from mid-May towards early September.
It inhabits coniferous plantations and woods.
