A very common species throughout the whole of Belgium, sometimes in large numbers.

The larva lives in a silken gallery at the base of the stem. The larva hibernates. Pupation in a firm silken cocoon just below the surface of the soil.
The adults are easily disturbed by day and later come to light.
The adults fly from mid-May till the end of August, occasionally later.
The larva lives on Deschampsia cespitosa or other grasses.
