A very rare and local species in Belgium, most observations known from very old records. Rediscovered again in 2023 in WV.

Wingspan 29–37 mm. A quite large Pyralid looks unassuming when at rest, but in flight reveals bright orange hindwings with a blackish border.

Bionomics

The larvae live in a flimsy web on leaves and flowers. Hibernation as pupa in a white cocoon.
