A rare species throughout Belgium, more observed in the north of the country and especially in the Kempen.
This species is considered Endangered according to the IUCN Red List category for Flanders 2023.
Native
Overwinters as an egg. The larva, when young feeds on the leaves and, later on, consumes the stems of the food plant near ground level. It feeds at night.
The adults come to light and less to sugar.
The adults fly in one generation a year from beginning of August till end September.
The larva feeds on various species of Graminae like Deschampsia, Brachypodium or Nardus stricta.
It inhabits nutrient-poor grasslands.
