Caterpillar

The caterpillar is yellow to brown-yellow.
The caterpillars can be found from the end of June to mid-July. And then again from the end of September to the beginning of October.

Mine

The mine starts as a narrow corridor that is almost completely filled with black frass. This initial corridor usually runs against the leaf edge. Then a blotch is formed that can take up half a leaf. Usually in the slightly smaller leaves. In the blotch, the black frass is rather irregularly spread.
Abandoned mines turn black and are easier to find.
