Wingspan 12–15 mm. A dark blackish brown moth, striated plumbeous grey. The apical third is suffused orange. The palps, head, anterior of thorax and tegulae are dull orange. Hindwings dark grey.

Caterpillar

Reddish brown body with a dark brown head and prothoracic, anal plate lighter.

Bionomics

The larva lives in side twigs and buds on the food plant. Pupation in the bud. Just below the bud the mature larva prepares an exit hole in the stem, which becomes sealed with whitish resin
The adults are resting among the foliage by day and are active at dusk and later come to light.
