A not so common species throughout Belgium, more observations in the Kempen and southern part of the country.
The larva feeds at night and rests by day on the underside of a leaf. The species hibernates as a pupa, in a compact cocoon formed underneath moss at the base of a tree, in leaf litter, or in soil.
The adults come to light and infrequently on sugar.
The adults fly from early April till the end of May.
The larva lives on Quercus.
