A very rare and local species in the southern part of Belgium.
Native
Wingspan 11–14 mm. The species has characteristic ochreous-yellow forewing markings, a diffuse lighter transverse band 2/3 out which forms a brownish-yellow spot at the rear edge and more extensive infuscation in the postmedian area.
The larva lives in the flowers, seeds and stems of the hostplant and puputes on the ground. The adults come to light.
The adults fly in two generations a year from mid-June towards August.
The larva occurs on Lapsana communis, Mycelis communis and Prenanthes purpurea.
It inhabits woodland, downland and waste ground.
