Wingspan 13–15 mm. Distinguished from Phalonidia gilvicomana by the comparatively clear ground colour in the postmedian area of the forewing.

Bionomics

The larvae live in the flower heads, feeding on the young achenes, their presence is not very conspicuous from the outside. They hibernate in a cocoon in the litter.
The adults come to light.
