A very rare species in Belgium, not seen for a long time. Rediscovered in 2020 in LX.

Wingspan 13–15 mm. Distinguished from Phalonidia gilvicomana by the comparatively clear ground colour in the postmedian area of the forewing.
The larvae live in the flower heads, feeding on the young achenes, their presence is not very conspicuous from the outside. They hibernate in a cocoon in the litter.
The adults come to light.
The moths are on the wing during July and August.
The larva feeds on Solidago virgaurea.
It inhabits woodland and scrubland.
