A rather common species throughout Belgium.
Native
It hibernates as an egg. The larva lives in the flower buds or a young shoot, or between spun leaves. It pupates in a white cocoon in the feeding place.
The adult seldom moves far from the foodplant and they are active from late afternoon onwards and irregularly come to light.
The adults can be observed from late April till the end of June with a peak during May. There are still irregular sightings of singles until the end of August.
The larva lives on different species and varieties of Rosa, both wild and cultivated. All other host plants cited in literature are more than likely wrong.
It inhabits gardens, parks, woodland, scrub and hedgerows.
